How it decides.
Forecast
Tomorrow’s solar from weather data, your home’s usage pattern and half-hourly prices.

Kilo Home: 12 panels and a 9.3 kWh battery. Fixed price £10,995. Here is what the same kit is worth with and without Kilo OS running it.
An estimated £108 a month back, on average.
Year one, against what you pay for energy today, on a peak export tariff. Kilo OS adds about £327 a year on top of what the kit would save on its own. On this tariff, export could outweigh what you buy in 9 months of the year.
Includes about £1,125 paid to you for 5,241 kWh sent back to the grid, on a peak export tariff.
- 02:00Cheap power at 17pKilo OS uses it to fill the battery with 8.8 kWh.
- 07:00Morning on batteryBreakfast, showers and heating run from stored power, not 28p grid power.
- 09:00Dull day forecastOnly 1.8 kWh of solar expected, so the overnight charge was sized up to cover the gap.
- 16:00Peak: grid at 39pHome runs on battery and Kilo OS sells 1.8 kWh back at 29p.
How we worked this out
We simulate your home hour by hour for a sunny, average and dull day in every month, using EU PVGIS solar data for your roof. Today assumes electricity at 26.32p/kWh and gas at 7.97p/kWh (Ofgem price cap, 1 October to 31 December 2026) where a heat pump replaces a boiler. Kit on factory settings assumes a standard tariff with 12p export. Kilo OS picks the cheaper of two illustrative smart tariffs (overnight at 8p, or peak export paying up to 29p), plans battery charging on a cautious weather forecast and moves car charging and some heating into cheap hours. Standing charges are left out because they don’t change. The 25-year view holds energy prices flat, with 0.5% solar wear a year, a £900 inverter replacement in year 12 and new battery modules in year 13. Real tariffs change, so these are estimates, not guarantees, and are confirmed at survey.
